Frequently Asked Questions
What is a sworn translation and why is it important?
A sworn translation in Spain is a translation made by a sworn translator appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is therefore regarded as having official and legal status by public institutions and bodies.
Sworn translations must bear the seal, signature and certification of the sworn translator who performs them and are valid throughout the country. The majority of organizations and institutions abroad (in my case, Germany, Austria and Switzerland) accept sworn translations performed in Spain by a translator accredited here. You must consult with the organization of the individual who is going to receive the translation to determine if it will be accepted or not once it has been performed in Spain.
What is the process to obtain a sworn or general translation?
Once you contact me by email or phone, simply email the scanned document(s) ensuring that everything is legible and visible (stamps, signatures, small print, etc.). It is not necessary to send original documents. If the quality of the documents is unacceptable (i.e. difficult to read), we can arrange to provide the original documents.
When I've received and reviewed your document(s), a quote will be provided, and work will begin once a figure is agreed to by the client. Translation times usually range from 3-4 days but may vary depending on the volume of the document(s) needing translation. For clients needing quick turnaround translations (delivery in 1-2 working days), I provide an express service in which a 10% surcharge is applied. Deliveries of sworn translations are either done in person or by certified post. In the latter case, customers will be reponsible for postage costs and ensuring enough time is given to receive the translation in a timely manner. General (non-sworn) translations can be sent by email. Feel free to contact me at anamorenor@hotmail.com or (+34) 655 90 96 56 for more information and personalized service.
What is the price of a sworn or general translation?
The price of a sworn or general translation is not established by any professional association, therefore each translator applies their own rates. The price depends on the volume of the document to be translated, including the number of documents and number of words in each document. Additional considerations include date of delivery (urgent translations as described above) and any expenses incurred using certified mail. Once you have sent me the document to be translated, I'll be happy to provide a personalized quote with no obligation.
Additional copies of translations are also available and will be taken into account when providing an intial quote.
What if my question isn't answered here?
Do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions. I'll be happy to provide efficient, personalized service for any translation services you may require.
